PhD Student
Shalen is a first year MA student in Human Geography. She is passionate about the intersections of climate change, urban governance, and social justice, and is excited to work in spaces that focus on dismantling systems of inequality. With UJT, she hopes to research how to advance inclusive and equitable climate action through community collaborations.
Lesley, is a final year student (5th year) specializing in Global Development Studies, and minoring in Environmental Management. Her research interests include the consideration of environmental justice within green growth policies, and the Indigenization of climate policies at the local, national, and international level(s) of governance. Over the summer she worked as a research assistant with the Urban Just Transitions Research Cluster, primarily focusing on the scope of Just Transition policies within Indigenous jurisdictions.
Brooke Sutherland a first year MA Geography student who is broadly interested in system-oriented solutions which simultaneously address the interconnected social, inequity, climate, and ecological crises we face. More specifically, her interest lies in the process of designing and implementing changes for sustainability and understanding how this can enhance justice and well-being. She is currently supporting the Urban Just Transitions Research Cluster with the Just Transitions Scans project.
