The Just Transition Listening Project is working to understand how climate action relates to people’s everyday concerns in Scarborough. We’re holding workshops and other kinds of community engagement to ask people questions like:

  • What will be the future of your neighbourhood?
  • What changes would you like to see in your community?
  • How does climate change impact your community?

This project tackles the challenge of accelerating equitable transitions to cities that do not produce carbon pollution while enabling all residents to live good lives and to be actively involved in this process of transition. The listening sessions are action-oriented conversations that focus on people’s connection to place, their aims for the future of their neighbourhood, and how to empower climate action that works towards these aims.

This is a co-produced research project in partnership between researchers and community organization representatives. From this project, we hope to produce resources for policy-makers, public communications, and research papers.
